The Government appointed new Supervisory Boards for Privatbank, Ukreximbank and Oschadbank


The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has appointed independent members and representatives of the State to the Supervisory Boards of three state-owned banks: JSC ‘Oschadbank”, JSC “Ukreximbank” and JSC CB “PrivatBank”, who will commence their duties starting from June 14, 2019.

The selection of candidates to the positions of independent Supervisory Board members from among 632 applications was made by “Pedersen and Partners”, “Ward Howell Ukraine” and “Talent Advisors” which were selected on a competitive basis with the participation of international organizations.

Based on 69 interviews with candidates and their assessment against the established criteria, the Nomination Commission, comprising of representatives of the relevant committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, the President, the Cabinet of Ministers, decided on the winners of the competitive selection. Representatives of International Financial Organizations participated in the Selection Commission’s meetings with an advisory capacity.

Oksana Markarova, Minister of Finance of Ukraine said: “We are pleased to see so many experts of an extremely high professional level taking part in the competition. This indicates good prospects for the development of our banks and that we have taken the correct path for reforming the state banking sector”

Each Supervisory Board got six independent members and two representatives of the State. The term of office of Supervisory Board members is three years.

AKçAKOCA Engin, MONETA Andrea, SEELIG Steven, EASKY Sharon, SHAIKH Nadir, KLEIN Eran as independent members, and representatives of the State — SHEVALIOV Artem (from the CMU) and OLEKSIYENKO Sergiy (from the VRU).

THORSTEN Paul, FISHER Steven, CHICHLO Dimitri, GORDIYENKO Olyana, KONOVETS Sergiy, MENU Dominique as independent members, and representatives of the State — BUTSA Yuriy (from the CMU) and SHULGA Alla (from the VRU).

of Oschadbank
ACUNER Sevki, APINE Baiba, REZNIKOV Оleksii, GRINCHENKO Оleksii, WEINSTEIN Michael, BRIGGS Peter, as independent members, and representatives of the State — BILAK Daniel (from the CMU) and VLASOV Dmytro (from the VRU).

Senior Executive with more than 25 years of commercial banking experience, and with about 15 years of advisory experience in terms of IMF, World Bank, EBRD projects.

Steven Seelig
Has extensive advisory experience in terms of financial stability, crisis management, bank restructuring, deposit insurance in Ukraine, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Mongolia as well as in Asia, Africa and South America.

Andrea Moneta
Senior Executive and Non-Executive Director about than 25 years of experience within leading Financial Services institutions and management consulting.

Sharon Easky
International advisor to central banks and deposit insurance agencies in Europe and Central Asia.

Nadir Shaikh
Has about 39 years of banking experience, all with Citibank/ Citigroup in 7 countries (mainly challenging Emerging markets), including 6 years in Ukraine

Eran Klein
The core expertise focuses on banking business-models, funding and treasury products, balance sheet analysis, legal and regulatory.

Paul Thorsten
Thorsten Paul is an international corporate banking and risk management professional with experience in such companies as Volksbank and Deutsche Bank. Since 2017 he has been Chairman of Board of Directors at Bank RBK in Kazakhstan.

Steven Fisher
Steven Fisher is retired after a 35 years’ career in global banking at Citi, most recently as CEO & Managing Director – Ukraine.

Dimitri Chichlo
Dimitri Chichlo is seasoned Cybersecurity and Risk Management professional with broad international exposure. Dimitri is a former Senior IT Security Advisor of Union Bancaire Privée in Geneva. From 2004 to 2009, he spent 5 years in Ukraine and was involved in various international greenfield industrial and banking projects.

Olyana Gordiyenko
Olyana has more than 18 years of legal experience in Ukraine. She has 15 years of experience working at Baker & McKenzie. In 2013 she became of the partner of the firm.

Dominique Menu
Dominique Menu is a retired Senior Banker with 36 years of banking experience in corporate, commercial and investment banking with profound practical expertise
in Trade Finance and documentary business, export credits, NPL portfolio management. In Ukraine, Dominique had a key role in the acquisition process of UkrSibBank by BNP Group and became a Country head for CIB Ukraine.

Sergiy Konovets
Sergiy Konovets has more than 23 years of experience in financial management and controlling, strategy development and business development gained within Big4 companies, a top tier strategy consulting firm, and the largest national oil&gaz company.

Michael Weinstein
Michael in an independent banker and financial expert with more than 30-years’ experience in international banking, strategic consulting to financial institutions and development financing for leading institutions in the USA, Russia, Central Asia, the Caucasus, Eastern and Central Europe and Latin America.

Sevki Acuner
Sevki has been working for the European Bank of Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) for over 20 years in the area of implementation of investment strategy and policy reforms in Western Europe, Turkey and Ukraine.

Sergiy Oleksiyenko – representative of the Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine
Has over 20 years of executive experience in lead Ukrainian investment companies. He organized a number of merger and acquisition transactions (M&A) or attraction of capital by Ukrainian companies totaling about USD 3 billion. He has the experience of structuring many significant deals in the Ukrainian capital market.

Artem Shevaliov – representative of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine
Has considerable experience in the international public banking across private and state-owned sectors. He stood at the origins of the state banking sector reform in Ukraine and was one of the main ideologists and authors of the Strategic Principles for Reforming the State-owned Banking Sector

Alla Shulga - representative of the Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine
Has more than 25 years of experience in banking, including over 18 years at executive positions. Due to deep understanding of operational characteristics of the Ukrainian banking market, she made a significant contribution to reforming the banking system while working as Director of the Banking Supervision General Department and a member of the Board of the National Bank of Ukraine. Yuriy Butsa – representative of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine
