Ukraine and the USA are to intensify customs cooperation

Following the initiative of the Ministry of Finance, the Government of Ukraine has approved the draft of the agreement between Ukraine and the USA on mutual support between customs authorities.The Ministry of Finance of Ukraine is striving to improve customs cooperation with other states in line with EU regulations.

Following this policy, agreements on mutual customs assistance were signed with Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina last year. The next step in this direction is the agreement between Ukraine and the USA on mutual customs assistance aimed to enhance cooperation between the two countries in tackling smuggling and customs violations.

The aim of this agreement is to set up mutual cooperation between the customs authorities of Ukraine and the USA as well as to ensure mutual administrative assistance aimed to prevent and to stop illegal actions which affect the economic interests of the two countries.The Agreement should be signed on May 23, 2016, during the visit of Richard Gil Kerlikowske, the Commissioner of the US Customs and Border Protection, to Ukraine.
