The E-Data project team has launched the 5th National Contest for Journalist Investigations and Analytical Studies “E-Investigation” based on open data. The key objective of the contest is to promote open registers, open databases and e-services related to the use of public funds as well as to improve the quality of investigations by using open data.
The Contest organizers invite to participate journalists and public activists who wish to investigate the embezzlement of public funds and damage to the public interests in the area of the public/budget finance.
Contest contributions shall be based on open databases using electronic data search systems e-data.gov.ua or www.007.org.ua with relevant links. The use of other e-services and open data search systems is also welcome. Another condition is the publication of contest contributions in printed or new media.
There are no age restrictions for participants. Contest contributions shall be sent per e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org. The contest is open for contributions that have not participated in “E-Investigation” before.
Please send your contributions until December 9, 2018.
The prize fund includes 120,000 hryvnas (taxes included) as well as technical support amounting 30,000 hryvnas.
The key assessment points for the contest contributions include the analytical quality of investigations, insight into the described problem as well as its importance and relevance, writing style, use of graphic materials or other elements for the presentation of data as well as compatibility with the topic of the contest.
A professional jury will assess contributions presented in the category “Journalist Investigations”. The winners in the category “Readers’ Favorite” will be selected in an open vote. All contest contributions shall be sent per e-mail to email@example.com.
