On February 9, the Ministry of Finance conducted a joint expanded meeting of members of the Civil Councils at the Ministry of Finance, Ministry for economic development and trade, State Fiscal Service. The meeting was also attended by representatives of the Trade Union Federation
of Ukraine, audit companies and other civil organizations.
The Ministry of Finance was represented at the meeting by Deputy Minister Olena Makeieva.
The participants of the meeting discussed critical issues related to the application of the profit tax and VAT, including for farming companies, as well as to the excise tax on the sale of fuel.
To improve the dialogue between government and business, the Ministry of Finance initiated the creation of a working group for general consultations on the reform of the tax and customs authorities. Representatives of the Ministry of Finance, State Fiscal Service, Parliament’s Committee for tax and customs policy as well as representatives of the Civil Council shall be included into the working group.
"To satisfy the needs of business and other stakeholders of the tax system to a maximum extent, we have created an experts’ council which shall participate in the elaboration of general tax recommendations. The members of the experts’ council are representatives of the Ministry of Finance, business, public as well as the responsible Parliament’s Committee. In other words, general tax recommendations elaborated by the Ministry of Finance shall be subject to approval by the experts’ council, which will secure double control", deputy Minister of Finance Olena Makeieva said.
According to Olena Makeieva, the Ministry of Finance is currently focused on the structural and systemic reshaping of the State Fiscal Service aiming to fight corruption at the tax and customs authorities and to minimize "human factor" by implementing electronic processing technologies and services at the State Fiscal Service.
