On April 20, Minister of Finance of Ukraine Oleksandr Danyliuk met Minister of Finance of Germany Olaf Scholz as part of the annual spring meetings of the IMF and the World Bank in Washington.
The Ministers discussed the results of the reforms which had been implemented in Ukraine in the last 4 years, the cooperation of Ukraine with the IMF and prospects to deepen cooperation between Ukraine and Germany.
Another topic of the meeting was the support provided by Germany in the launch of the fourth micro-financial aid program of the EU as well as the implementation of technical aid projects in Ukraine on behalf of the German Government.
Oleksandr Danyliuk thanked Olaf Scholz for the long-lasting support provided by Germany to Ukraine and for its expert and technical assistance in the implementation of reforms. The Minister of Finance of Germany assured that the Minister of Finance of Germany and the Federal Government will continue to support Ukraine in the implementation of its key reforms.
On the same day Oleksandr Danyliuk met Minister of Finance of Latvia Dana Reizniece-Ozola.
The parties discussed the experience of Latvia in the reform of its tax system, ways to improve the effectiveness and transparency of tax administration and the comprehensive reform of the State Fiscal Service of Ukraine.
Minister of Finance of Latvia Dana Reizniece-Ozola agreed that Ukraine had already reached some results in these area and that both countries could exchange their relevant experience. Oleksandr Danyliuk and Dana Reizniece-Ozola also discussed the possibility to arrange a visit of Latvian advisors to Ukraine for the implementation of the SFS reform and the establishment of the Financial Investigation Service.
