On June 7, Minister of Finance Oleksandr Danyliuk and Deputy Minister of Finance Sergiy Marchenko attended the closing ceremony of the study program “Leadership in Public Finance” which was initiated by Kyiv School of Economy jointly with the German Society for Technical Cooperation (GIZ) and with the support of the Ministry of Finance. The Ministry of Finance himself participated in the elaboration of the study modules; his deputy was the academic director of the program.
The program “Leadership in Public Finance” posed a unique educational platform which within six months of intensive studies brought up a number of skilled leaders who are set to manage the reform process in public finance.
Minister of Finance Oleksandr Danyliuk stated at the closing ceremony that the program had been elaborated in line with actual needs and requirements. “Our society needs a new generation of professionals who can be leaders, have a new system of values, are aware of the best practices in public finance management and are ready to use them. You must be the driver for positive changes in Ukraine which will trigger economic growth”, Minister of Finance Oleksandr Danyliuk said addressing the program graduates.
Deputy Minister of Finance Sergiy Marchenko said that Ukraine is undergoing a comprehensive reform of the financial sector making it necessary to bring up a new generation of qualified professionals able to implement the relevant transformations. This was the reason for the build-up of such a program in Ukraine. “I am sure that the number of participants of this program will grow significantly with time and this project will become an integral part of the education of future reform professionals. Jointly we will be able to ensure the further recovery of the public finance system”, Sergiy Marchenko said.
