The Ministry of Finance welcomes the decision of the President of Ukraine to sign the Law of Ukraine “On Amendments to Some Acts of Legislation Concerning the Improvement of the Operations of the Financial Sector in Ukraine”.
“The reform of the state banking sector is one of the priorities of the Ministry of Finance. Representatives of international financial organisations like the IMF, EBRD, World Bank and the IFC contributed to the preparation of this law - that is why it is based on the best practices of corporate management. Now we can effectively implement these practices, which will make our banks politically independent and financially attractive,” said acting Minister of Finance Oksana Markarova.
Once the Law of Ukraine “On Amendments to Some Acts of Legislation Concerning the Improvement of the Operations of the Financial Sector in Ukraine” has been signed by the President, the Cabinet of Ministers will establish a tender commission to identify candidates for the positions of independent members of the state-owned banks’ supervisory boards.
