At today’s meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, acting Minister of Finance of Ukraine presented the draft state budget for 2019 with corrections based on the budget conclusions of the Parliament. The Cabinet of Ministers approved it with the corrections made and decided to present it for the second reading at the Parliament on November 16.
“Despite the unprecedented volume of payments to be made by Ukraine to serve our public debt in 2019, we have managed to keep all our originally set funding priorities. They include defence and security, social protection, healthcare, education and development of infrastructure,” Oksana Markarova said. “This is a signal demonstrating that our state has a consensus on our priorities and key reforms which must go forward.”
The corrected draft budget respects the obligations of Ukraine towards its international partners and creditors, especially in regard to the reduction of the state budget deficit to 2.3% of the GDP. A responsible and disciplined approach to budgeting will enable Ukraine not only to keep the macro-economic stability, but also to lay ground for economic growth.
