On Wednesday, October 28, the second meeting of the Fiscal Decentralization Task Force will take place as a part of the working group on local taxes.
Decentralization of the tax system and budget planning has resulted in higher revenues for local budgets for all tax types. It has enabled local governments to be more independent and flexible in their budget management in accordance to the local needs.
The meeting of the Fiscal Decentralization Task Force was organized with the aim to elaborate a strategy and distribute tasks and responsibilities between the group’s members to support Strengthening of local taxation policies.
The meeting will take place at the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine with the participation of other ministries and international organizations including the EU Office in Ukraine, German Society for international cooperation (GIZ), Swedish Agency for international cooperation and development (Sida), PricewaterhouseCoopers/DFID, Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).
The main task of the Fiscal Decentralization Task Force established in September is to coordinate technical aid from donors who are cooperating with the government and local bodies to develop local self-government and to strengthen the system of interbudgetary relations. The Fiscal Decentralization Task Force poses a platform for the coordination of priorities and strategic tasks in fiscal decentralization as well as for the elaboration and implementation support of technical projects.
