KfW is a government-owned German bank financing development programs worldwide on behalf of the German Federal Government.
From 2002 till 2014 Ukraine was granted approx. EUR 270 mio. (including EUR 193 mio. From the Federal budget and approx. EUR 76 mio. from KfW itself) to implement projects related to the development of the financial system, electricity supply, municipal water supply and sewage disposal, municipal social infrastructure as well as environment protection. a
In 2015 Ukraine should get from KfW a new loan amounting EUR 200 mio. aimed to back up the Deposit Guarantee Fund which is liable for reimbursing deposits to citizens lost due to bank bankruptcies.
